Last night, BURKE was awarded a 2013 silver ADDY in Digital Advertising, Website, Consumer and Services for the design of The Corner Pub website at the 2013 AAF Charlotte ADDYs awards gala, the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition for creative excellence.
The Corner Pub, a neighborhood bar located in 4th Ward of uptown Charlotte, came to BURKE back in July looking for a new page that emphasized its fun neighborhood feel and great menu. “We wanted to bring the social experience of being at a bar to the screen, making it more of an environment than a website,” said BURKE’ Web Designer, Yeshua Perez.
With that goal in mind, BURKE incorporated original design elements and high-quality photography as opposed to traditional color backgrounds. Custom texture and a stylized hand-written font were also used to make the site come to life. Using custom photography from the pub gave each a page a unique feel, but cohesively tied it back to the bar.
Two members of BURKE’s Creative team, Yeshua Perez and Joshua Hallums, accepted the award on behalf of BURKE last night at the AAF ADDYs Gala at The Big Chill in Charlotte. The gala, an occult theme of “the power of 13” featured an “optimystical” pre-show complete with voodoo dolls, a mystic palm reader and mingling with industry friends and peers before dinner.
Nearly 400 entries were submitted for over 75 categories of ADDYs this year.
